Abarth 500e coming soon

A new take on the hot hatch will land in Australia soon, with the 2024 Abarth 500e due to arrive in local dealerships before the end of this year. The first fully-electric Abarth, the 500e has been described as the most responsive and exciting Abarth 500 ever.

Launching with a limited-edition ‘Scorpionissima’ variant, a ‘Turismo’ version of the Abarth 500e will follow in 2024. Both are powered by an electric motor producing 113.7kW and 235Nm, with a newly developed ‘Abarth Sound Generator’ replicating the note of a high-performance petrol engine. A 42kWh battery provides a claimed 252km range, with charging of up to 85kW and 35-minute 0-80 per cent capacity using a DC charger. Domestic and public AC charging options are also supported.

Placement of the battery and front-mounted motor improves weight distribution compared to the combustion-engined Abarth, with more torque and faster 0-100km/h acceleration of 7.0 seconds. The 500e also has a wider track than the petrol-powered Abarth 695, along with greater balance, improved handling and stability, and better road holding, according to Abarth.

The Abarth 500e launches with two new colours, Acid Green and Poison Blue, which on the Scorpionissima are enhanced with exclusive Abarth decals. The Turismo will be offered in these colours, too, as well as Antidote White, Venom Black and Adrenaline Red, but will not include the decals.

Other features include 18-inch alloys in Titanium Grey, heated front sports seats with headrests embroidered with the Abarth ‘Scorpion’ emblem, Alcantara interior trim with Acid Green and Poison Blue stitching. a 7.0-inch instrument display and 10.25-inch centre touchscreen.

The 2024 Abarth 500e Scorpionissima is limited to 219 units, each with a digital Certificate of Authenticity, priced from $60,500 + ORCs. The 2024 Abarth 500e Turismo is priced from $58,900 + ORCs.
